Itinerary overview
- Day 1: Arrival in Arusha — Private pickup at Kilimanjaro Int’l Airport, transfer to your Arusha hotel; rest and unwind.
- Day 2: Preparation & Orientation — Briefing with head guide, gear and wellness checks; relaxed afternoon in Arusha.
- Day 3: Momella Gate → Miriakamba Hut (2,500m) — 5–6 hrs through forest and grassland with frequent wildlife sightings.
- Day 4: Miriakamba Hut → Saddle Hut (3,500m) — 3–5 hrs steady ascent; optional sunset acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m).
- Day 5: Saddle Hut → Socialist Peak (4,566m) → Miriakamba Hut — Pre‑dawn summit; panoramic sunrise; descend to Miriakamba for overnight.
- Day 6: Miriakamba Hut → Momella Gate → Arusha — 2–4 hrs descent through forest; collect summit certificate; return to Arusha.
- Day 7: Departure / Extensions — Airport transfer or continue with a bespoke safari or Kilimanjaro extension.
Inclusions & exclusions
Our Meru rates are crafted to be fully inclusive, delivering a seamless experience from arrival to departure.
The package includes:
- All transfers as mentioned, including personalized airport pick-up and drop-off.
- Two nights in Arusha prior to the mountain and one night after (4–5★ options by preference).
- Lunch and dinner at your hotel in town.
During your Meru expedition, you will enjoy:
- The expertise of professional, highly experienced mountain guides and an armed ranger as required within Arusha National Park.
- All required Arusha National Park (Meru) fees.
- Official rescue fees.
- Fair and ethical treatment of our porters and mountain crew.
- Premium four-season waterproof sleeping tents, private and spacious.
- Fully equipped kitchen tent and mess tent with dining table and chairs.
- A private portable toilet for added comfort.
- Emergency oxygen supply and a basic first aid kit on every trek.
- A dedicated mountain chef preparing fresh, nutritious meals.
- Clean, purified drinking water throughout the trek.
- Three freshly prepared meals daily, plus snacks while on the mountain.
What’s Not Included
To keep plans flexible, the following are not included in our Meru trekking rates:
- International and domestic airfare tickets.
- Optional activities and tours (e.g., safaris after your climb).
- Visas, airport taxes, and travel documentation.
- Health, travel, and cancellation insurance.
- Personal trekking gear (trekking poles, sleeping bags, duffel bags, mountain clothing).
- Bottled water and other beverages outside the mountain service.
- Tips, alcoholic beverages, and personal expenses.
